NYBFW S/S ‘25 UPCOMING TRENDS

It’s that wonderful time of year yet again - NYBFW! Only difference for Bloom this time around is that very lucky Alicia got to go this year! I can’t even begin to tell you guys how good it was and how excited we are for these new collections… but I guess I will because that’s the entire point of this blog! So for my 2025 brides, keep on reading because bridal is seeing some very exciting new things coming (fingers crossed) in these next few months.

Lace

Are we ready for it? I’m so ready for it. After that cursed period of horrific lace around the mid 2000s, we’re finding our bride is still a bit iffy. Likening lace to being cheap is still definitely a firm feeling but I’m here to tell you, it’s 100% not the case! Beautiful lace does exist! And is featured heavily in this godsend of a gown; Marlow from Danielle Frankel… I actually gasped out loud when I first saw her.

She’s super similar to the silhouette of one of my personal faves Camille but this new fabric is to die for. Hand cut Lyon lace strips - doesn’t that just sound amazing?

Something blue

Usually it’s just a touch of blue on your wedding day, but why not lean in to some colour? Varca has presented us with Jennifer, the most magnificent blue floral Italian chiné taffeta with a very plunging corseted back. The back can absolutely be raised but someone please order this gown as is, please I’m asking so nicely…

Anyone that knows me knows that as soon as the weather in Brisbane turns even the tiniest bit cooler, I’m wearing a suit. I love suits and I loved our appointment with Tanner Fletcher just as much! Not only were the boys’ wonderful humans but their beautiful designs were so unique. The brand is only just stepping into bridal but have been designing suits for a hot minute. Their baby blue velvet blazer caught my eye immediately and the blue feather trim on their silk slip was the most stunning touch.

But if you really want to commit to the blue then don’t head past DF’s Mariella in all of her hand-painted goodness. A custom version of her even made it to the Met Gala this year!

Ball gowns

Not that they ever really fell off trend-wise but ball gowns are cementing their spot this season. Sam and I don’t usually gravitate towards the ball gowns but we certainly did this time around!

If you can dream it, you’re about to see it. They’re coming in every fabric imaginable with all the different bodice options plus those stunning full skirts! Unfortunately most of my faves from Vivienne Westwood still have to be kept top secret for another few months but we’ve had the beautiful Grand Camille arrive recently and she’ll keep me very happy until our next round of samples arrive!

The gals at Cinq wowed us with some absolute beauties too! Check out Louise for all the drop waist, off the shoulder inspo.

Bows

Surely we’re not shocked by this one. Bows have snuck their way into literally everything wedding related - wrapped around the bottom of champagne coupes or around a single flower as a bouquet so it’s about time they made their way into bridal design.

Straight back to the suits with Tanner Fletcher’s unreal bow suit - you can go white bows on a white jacket for a monochromatic look or customise with a colour! God, those guys are fun.

Otherwise if you wanted to take bows to the max - check out the sweetest little puff ball mini with all the bows from Azzi and Osta.

Vintage vibes

What was old is now new again! The throwback to the 90’s has been huge in fashion lately but now an overall vintage feel is creeping back into bridal too.

Did you know one of our most popular Vivienne Westwood gowns is over thirty years old? You guys are loving that vintage feel and our designers are bringing it to you in a big way! VW are still pulling from their very extensive archive of designs and making them fresh again. While I can’t share too many details yet, I promise they’re so worth the wait and as soon as I can, I’ll be shouting about them in every appointment and on all the social media platforms.

The wonderful designs from Danielle Frankel have always felt like old Hollywood to us and new arrival Leighton is vintage inspired in the most perfect of ways.

While we didn’t get to see them in NY, I can’t leave you without telling you about a few more new collections about to hit Bloom…

After leaving us hanging for some new designs for a few years, Alex Perry will be dropping a new bridal collection in the next few months! Unfortunately still a bit of a secret but I can tell you, if you’re liking the AP pieces we currently have in the studio then you’re going to love what’s to come!

Otherwise if you’re a fashion girl, then I’m beyond excited to show you some new stunners from Blanc Wear. Her imagery (and her gowns) have always been beautiful but she’s continuing to step it up each and every time. Need to know a few of my faves? I’m so glad you asked. I’m obsessed with La Premiere, La Septieme and La Dixieme. You’ll sense a real theme there!

And lastly but probably the part you’ve all been hanging out for the most is when can you get your cute bods in these designs? Well the Bloom girls are always working hard and we’ve locked in a few trunk shows already for you angels! So get excited for Blanc Wear from 27 September to 12 October 2024, then from 16 October to 24 October 2024, we’ll have Alex Perry’s latest collection and then very shortly after, Varca from 24 October to 2 November 2024. Don’t fret though, there’s plenty more where that came from and we’ll announce them as soon as we have some firm dates!

If any of the gowns mentioned are really speaking to you, then please sign up to our mailing list as we’ll announce upcoming trunk show appointments and new collection arrivals there first!
