REAL BLOOM BRIDE: SARAH

Welcome back to the real Bloom bride blogs! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been able to share another stunning wedding we get to be a part of but you guys are keeping us so busy in the studio! Which is actually fab news because I’ve got aaaaaall the content to share moving forward…

But first, let’s jump back into it with Sarah and Ben! A perfect example of a beautiful family property wedding planned in just a few short months. We loved seeing Sarah’s wedding come together so quickly and in such a gorg way so read on to hear all about it!

THE PROPOSAL:

Sarah’s family own a beautiful farm just outside of Toowoomba where her and Ben were visiting for the Christmas break. They kicked the night off with champagne on the deck with her family and then a walk through their rose garden at sunset. When Sarah’s family quickly disappeared, Sarah tried to follow but sneaky Ben had other ideas. With her sisters hiding in the bushes nearby to capture all the engagement content, Ben proposed.

THE RING:

This engagement ring deserves its own section because one; It’s stunning obviously and two; the origin of the ring is up for debate and has a few interesting back stories! The stone belonged to Ben’s grandfather who either fossicked it himself in Inverell forever ago or he was given a box of sapphires as payment from a man that owed a significant amount to his fuel distribution business. Either way, a story that can be passed down for years to come!

Then one night when Ben’s mum overheard the two of them chatting about proposals and giant Sapphires she stepped in to say I think I could help you out with a perfectly cut oval Sapphire stone…

THE VIBES:

Aiming for an elevated garden soiree, they knew the perfect place was Sarah’s family farm. Looking at a May wedding, the icy Toowoomba autumn doesn’t allow for a healthy green garden but her wonderful parents installed an entirely new water supply to ensure the farm remained in tip top condition for the day!

Overall they based their styling around the natural colours of the farm around them - greenery (from all that extra watering!) as well as incorporating blue for that clear blue Toowoomba sky and white because it’s a wedding, duh. Working with Bec from Poppies for Willow, she quickly found out that the blue hydrangeas she’d been hoping for might not be in the cards but Bec guided her in the perfect direction to find other florals that would perfectly suit the rest of her styling.

THE DRESS SEARCH:

Our gal Sarah really does not mess about. After getting engaged in late December, she was booked in for her initial appointment in January preparing for her late May wedding. In her own words, she works best on a timeline… and she definitely pulled this thing off!

Sarah found us by word-of-mouth, with everyone she spoke to having wonderful positive things to say about Bloom. Searching for something atypical and more fashion-forward than most bridal looks she’d seen pushed her in our direction as well as the drawcard of finally having Danielle Frankel as an option for an Australian bride! She said she was delighted to find a relaxed, authentic experience full of honest advice and no pushy pressure to make a decision (even though she was very aware she did need to make a speedy one).

Wanting a classic, elegant look with just a splash of leg, we ran through a few options but our brand new Harriette Gordon arrival really took her by surprise. Knowing that she had limited time made her very decisive which she ended up really appreciating. Hearing friends’ stories about flying to other states and constantly tying themselves in knots trying to make decisions wasn’t the experience Sarah wanted so with her one happy successful try on experience, she was ready to make moves.

THE GOWN:

Sarah wore the Harriette Gordon 1.6C gown. She fell in love with the beautiful silk and refined, timeless elegance of the high neckline and long sleeves. Throwing in some fun with that stunning open diamond back and a daring side leg split. Pairing her gown with a perfectly matched veil, she also wore a Harriette Gordon cathedral length single tier pearl veil!

When she first tried on her gown, she said it wasn’t an immediate yes but it was an immediate comfortable feeling. Despite being very open minded with her search, it wasn’t a gown she ever thought to try on. It felt like something that she’d always love and she felt like the most beautiful version of herself in it - which is something we really strive for here at Bloom.

With gowns that she had loved online either not being an option for her short timeframe or just not loving them as much once she tried them on, Sarah leaned into that comfortable feeling and locked in her gorgeous gown!

AN ABOVE AND BEYOND VENDOR WAS: Sarah’s parents! From hosting the wedding on their incredible Toowoomba property to arranging catering, alcohol and staffing from their business, the Royal on Ruthven, the Griffiths’ made it all happen with ease.

Sarah and Ben kicked their day off with celebrant Carly Slade, who set the tone with her beautiful words and ability to easily share their story and ended with their band, Beccy and the Jets, who kept the energy going well into the early hours of the morning. You know it’s a fab wedding when you have to force people to head home!

Their last thanks is to their florist and stylist who also helped coordinate their entire day, Bec from Poppies for Willows and photographer Anna Tomlinson for capturing all the special moments with their friends and family.

WE’RE STOKED WE… were deliberate in creating different spaces to guide their guests and themselves throughout the day.

Post ceremony, they hosted a garden party complete with Aperols and Beccy playing her guitar acoustically to have the opportunity to greet their guests. Moving down to the lower bank of the farm later to enjoy the sunset before moving into the marquee for dinner, all the dancing and a few casual late night fireworks!
